Our '54 Vintage Sparkle single coil pickups for S-style guitars is a lot like our original '54 Vintage pups, but by swapping in vintage-spec ALNICO 3 magnets, they get a bit less output and a dash more sparkle! This is one of our favorite recipes.


We recommend choosing flat stagger pole pieces for modern guitars that have a fretboard radius of 9.0 inches or greater.

Under The Hood

  • Vulcanized fiber bobbins
  • 42 AWG enameled copper wire
  • ALNICO 3 magnets
  • RW/RP middle pickup for noise cancellation
  • Push-back cloth leads with 22 AWG pre-tinned wire for easy installation
  • Lightly potted in a mix of beeswax and paraffin
  • Chrome height adjustment screws and spring
  • Includes parchment or black covers
  • Resistance: ~5.6kOhm*

*Please note that resistance values are approximate and may vary due to a number of factors. We accept a tolerance of +/-10% K Ohms. Bootstrap Pickups winds to a set wind count, not resistance.

We use either all-black vulcanized fiber bobbins or gray and black vulcanized fiber bobbins depending on material availability. If you have a preference for either bobbin cover, please leave a note at checkout and we are happy to accommodate.
